Praia Brava House, designed by Studio Arthur Casas, is set on a steep site between native vegetation and the ocean in Itajaí, Brazil. Carefully positioned within the landscape, the house follows the natural slope, extending toward the horizon and seamlessly connecting interior living spaces with the outdoors.

The project reuses an existing structural skeleton, originally built for a speculative development. The architects reconfigured the layout with minimal intervention, adapting it to a family lifestyle centered on social gatherings, comfort, and a strong relationship with nature.

Social areas on the entrance level open toward the living room, dining space, and pool, all oriented to maximize ocean views. Private areas are located below, including bedrooms and a master suite with a spa terrace, ensuring both privacy and immersion in the surrounding forest.

Wood is the dominant material, used throughout the façade and interiors to create continuity and warmth. It is complemented by stone, plaster, limestone, and metal details, forming a natural and cohesive material palette.

The design emphasizes fluidity between spaces, natural light, and cross ventilation, enhancing both comfort and energy efficiency. Interiors are arranged to maintain clear views toward the sea and vegetation, combining contemporary design pieces with Brazilian modernist furniture and art.

Landscape design by Renata Tilli preserves the existing terrain and vegetation, reinforcing the integration between architecture and nature.

Overall, Praia Brava House acts as an extension of its site, creating a continuous dialogue between built space and landscape, where functionality, comfort, and the natural environment are in balance.
