House 720 Degrees is conceived as both a geometric and perceptual device, extending the natural 360-degree field of vision into a continuous spatial experience. Organized around a central courtyard, the house explores the relationship between interior and exterior worlds while functioning as a solar clock that registers the passage of time. During the day, it opens outward to frame views of the surrounding mountains and volcano, while at night it turns inward, focusing on the circular patio.

The project is composed of three distinct volumes: a circular main house, a detached studio or guest room, and a rectangular block containing additional bedrooms and service spaces. This fragmented layout responds to the site’s steep topography and preserves existing vegetation, while accommodating two families as well as guests.

The main house is arranged over two levels, including a ground floor and an accessible roof terrace. Within the circular plan, rectangular rooms such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and the kitchen are inserted, leaving the curved perimeter for circulation and outdoor extensions. Flexible elements — including sliding screens, large openings, and framed views — allow the interior to adapt and remain closely connected to the landscape.

Located in a remote valley, the house balances openness and protection. It responds to extreme climatic conditions while maintaining strong visual and physical connections to its environment. Its walls act as transitional membranes between contrasting ecosystems, seasons, and spatial experiences.

Rooted in the ground, the building uses locally sourced materials, including soil mixed with concrete, to blend into the natural surroundings. Local craftsmanship is evident in the construction, as well as in custom-made furniture and lighting. The house is self-sufficient, collecting rainwater, generating solar energy, and using passive strategies such as cross-ventilation and radiant floors.

Designed for durability and low maintenance, the house integrates seamlessly with the landscape. Its materiality evolves over time, allowing it to adapt to seasonal changes and reinforcing its identity as a living, responsive structure.
