Pilgrimage architecture along Ruta del Peregrino in Jalisco, Mexico, featuring a monolithic concrete structure overlooking the mountainous landscape crossed by millions of pilgrims on their journey to Talpa de Allende.

Ruta del Peregrino is one of Mexico’s most important religious pilgrimages, centred around the devotion to the Virgin of Talpa. Stretching across 117 kilometers through the mountainous landscapes of Jalisco, the pilgrimage attracts nearly two million people every year from different regions of Mexico. The spiritual journey begins in Ameca, climbs to Cerro del Obispo at 2,000 meters above sea level, crosses the dramatic Espinazo del Diablo mountain ridge, and ends in Talpa de Allende, where pilgrims gather to honour the Virgin of Talpa in an act of faith, devotion, and gratitude.
